The South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA), as The Authority Championing South Africa’s Global Maritime ambitions, was established on the 1st April 1998 under the SAMSA Act 5 of 1998. In line with its objectives, one of SAMSA’s primary areas of responsibility includes the enforcement of international training standards and competency of Seafarers. To this extent, SAMSA plays a vital role in the core business of Marine Crew Services and we have fostered a longstanding relationship with SAMSA to the benefit of our South African Seafarers and International Seafarers alike.
The Subtech Group specialises in the provision of marine and sub-sea services throughout Africa, offering a comprehensive solution to all maritime related requirements. Marine Crew Servicecurrently provides Officers and Ratings to Subtech South Africa, based in Durban.
Bourbon is a large offshore group which operates in 45 countries, as a leading service provider in the offshore oil and gas industry. Marine Crew Services CS currently provides their French and Russian subsidiaries with Officers and Ratings.
The South African International Maritime Institute (SAIMI) is facilitating the development of the skills and knowledge base required to ensure the success of ‘Blue Economy’ maritime economic development initiatives such as Operation Phakisa and the African Union’s African Integrated Maritime Strategy. Marine Crew Services, as a proudly South African company, currently provides SAIMI Cadets with berth space for their experiential training.
OPS Angola, an affiliate company of the SBM Offshore Group, is a leader in leasing and operation of FPSO & FSO Units. OPS has training & development agreements with the main Training Technical Centres, local and overseas, of which Marine Crew Services currently facilitates their training programmes for both Cadets and Officers.
OSM Congo, as member of the OSM Maritime Group, delivers third party Maritime and Offshore Management services. Marine Crew Services currently facilitates their training programmes for Cadets.
P&O Maritime is a maritime solutions provider to governments, businesses and organisations across all the seven continents of the world and an industry leader in safety and innovation in maritime support services. Marine Crew Services currently provides their Mozambican Cadets with berth space for their sea training.
Sonasurf operates as a joint venture with Bourbon to manage its West African Offshore operations fleet from Angola. Marine Crew Services currently facilitates their training programmes for Officers.
With its headquarters in Greece, Aegean Marine Petroleum Network expects to attract passing ships with a new operation offering bunkers at anchorage in South Africa’s Algoa Bay, making it the first company able to offer fuels outside port limits (OPL) in the country. Aegean has established a local private company, Aegean Bunkering Marine Services (Pty) Ltd, with a 26% share allocated to a South African partner, to look after Aegean’s business in the country. Marine Crew Services currently provides Ratings to the Liberian flagged bunkering tanker, the Umnenga, in Port Elizabeth.
